From Mérida it will take us 40 minutes by public transport to get to the closest to the starting point of the hike then about 2 hours on foot to reach the start of the paths. We enter the Sierra Nevada de la Mucuy National Park. After registering in the caretaker's office, the guide will lead the group through the rainforest. This part contains dense vegetation, tall trees, rivers and small waterfalls of pure water. At the end of the route we leave this forest at an altitude of 3300m to discover the lake of La Coromoto and the typical fauna and flora of the páramo. This is where we will camp after 6 to 7 hours of walking.

Today's course is steeper, rockier and more irregular than the first day and the panorama is more open. You will sometimes need to use your hands to climb the rocky parts and keep your balance. After a narrow passage you will discover the green lake. From this place, there is still an hour's walk to reach Lake El Suero, at the foot of the Humboldt where we will spend the second night at almost 4000 meters of altitude after 6 to 7 hours of walking.

The day starts strong with the ascent of the Chomejema pass. Be careful, it is not easy! The path begins with a particularly steep scree then a dizzying crossing to finally reach the highest point at 4470 meters above sea level. We continue the path crossing until we reach our La Charca camp. We will sleep at 4400 meters altitude after 6 to 7 hours of walking.

We will start on a very poorly marked but not too steep path. We soon reach the La Concha massif which we are going to circumvent. It is in front of us, imposing, one of the highest peaks of Venezuela. Be careful, the last 100 meters are worth it! We are close to climbing in having to use hands and feet to climb the very inclined wall. A few meters of dizzying ridge and we are there! The view is simply impressive over the entire natural park. The descent will be done by the same path. We continue the crossing towards the Espejo peak near which we will spend the night. We will sleep at 4400 meters altitude after 6 to 7 hours of walking.

Big day of walking by a sometimes dizzying path that will take us to the cable Loma Redonda station. Then a wide and well marked path will take us to Pedro's refuge. Night in a tent on site at 3200 meters above sea level after 7 to 8 hours of walking.

The forest is back and protects us in a rapid descent towards Mérida. We soon reach the park guards at La Casita Blanca. We are back to civilization and survey the small local farms until we reach the center of Mérida near Place Belén at 1650 meters above sea level. We will have walked between 5 and 6 hours
